It’s that time of year…

AKA the perfect time to add some books to your TBR list.

Hey readers,

It’s been quite a while since my last post on here. I have a post draft titled “Recent Reads: August 2025” – and it’s currently mid-November. Goodness. I’ve been MIA because of some family reasons, but I am dipping back into the lovely world of reading and blogging. In fact, in the last week I’ve finished a couple of ARC fiction books that are being published in 2026, and I’m working my way through a couple of nonfiction books that were published this year.

I digress, though.

The reason for this post is because I logged onto Goodreads to refresh my memory on what I thought of a book I read some years ago. And right on my feed, a friend had voted for a couple of books in Goodreads 2025 Reader’s Choice Awards. I clicked on it to see what titles were on there, and wouldn’t you know it? I’ve read about 1 of the 100 or so titles that were nominated for the awards. (Maybe not even one. I may have just recognized the title from seeing it on my sister’s Christmas list.)

Anyway. That reminded me that as we reach the close of the calendar year, this is a great time to look at what others have read and loved this year and add the titles that catch my eye to my to-read list.

I find those lists in various places.
Social media is a big one, of course – my friends on Facebook and Instagram often post their favorite books of the year and/or their list of books read along with ratings.
Blogs are great for this also, as are bookish platforms like Goodreads.
I have, in the past, also looked up the award winners and nominations for other book awards, like the Booker Prize, the ALA awards, the Pulitzer prize, or Newbery and Caldecott winners (for kids’ books).

This hasn’t been my biggest year for reading, and I still may find books that I love in the last 6 weeks of the year (how are we that close to 2026?). However, I still read some fabulous books.

I hope to share them in a blog post format before the year is up, but for now, I created a list on my Bookshop.org page titled “2025 Favorite Reads.” Check it out for some inspiration! Maybe these titles can help you reach your 2025 reading goals.

And while I’d love to do a full blog post about them, based on my track record this year, this might be the closest I get to a blog post on my favorites! 😂

Happy reading!
